About SoftCandle
Our Mission
SoftCandle was founded with a simple yet powerful mission: to help candle makers everywhere make smarter decisions, through approachable guidance and free tools that make planning a batch budget, sizing wicks, estimating burn times, and preparing for the pour clearer, more rewarding, and more practical.
We believe that everyone who makes candles or dreams of making them, from first-time hobbyists to seasoned chandlers, deserves access to accurate tools, comprehensive resources, and trustworthy guidance. Our platform bridges the gap between confusing wax math and confident, well-informed decisions about scents and candle projects, budgets and burn times, wicks and pouring, container and pillar candles, hidden techniques, and making candles smart.
Through our free collection of tools, we help candle makers make informed decisions about batch budgets, wax quantities per container, fragrance loads, burn times, wick sizes, and costs per candle. Every tool is designed with real-world applicability in mind, tested against the day-to-day realities of blending, pouring, and curing a candle, and continuously improved based on user feedback. To go deeper, explore our Candles & Light museum, with galleries on iconic waxes and historic candles, beautiful natural fragrances, vibrant scents and decor styles, and the craft behind every great candle.
Our Story
SoftCandle emerged from a need we experienced firsthand. While trying to sort through conflicting advice and scattered references, we noticed a common challenge: the lack of accessible, accurate tools for the everyday decisions that come with planning a batch, running the numbers on a candle budget, and making the most of every pour.
Smart candle making relies heavily on curiosity and a little know-how, which are invaluable. However, a confident candle maker also benefits from clear answers about how a batch budget breaks down, how much wax a container needs, what fragrance load to use, how long a candle will burn, which wick to choose, and how much each candle costs. We saw an opportunity to combine well-researched candle-making knowledge with modern tools to help people make confident decisions about every batch.
Our team began developing tools that we wished existed when we poured our first big batches. Each calculator and guide was created to solve real problems encountered when budgeting a project, comparing waxes, or sizing wicks for an unfamiliar container. We tested every tool against real-world numbers, refined the logic based on feedback, and ensured that the results reflected current, widely accepted candle-making practice.
Today, SoftCandle serves active users worldwide, from first-time hobbyists to lifelong candle-making enthusiasts. Our tools have helped people budget projects, measure wax, set fragrance loads, estimate burn times, choose wick sizes, and cost their candles, and make more deliberate, confident candle-making decisions.
